Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident after a worker was knocked down by a forklift truck in Kwai Chung and later died in hospital.
The incident happened in an outdoor car park on Container Port Road South at about 2pm on Monday, according to police.
“Initial information showed the male worker was trapped under the forklift. He had lost consciousness when he was rescued,” a police spokeswoman said.
The victim was taken to Princess Margaret Hospital, where he was certified dead before 3pm.
The spokeswoman said officers from the New Territories South traffic unit were investigating the case.
This was the fifth fatal traffic accident in the city this month. On Sunday, a driver, 30, died after being crushed between two trolleys at Hong Kong International Airport.
Police figures show 132 people died in 129 road traffic accidents across the city last year, up from 122 deaths in 117 accidents in 2015. In 2014, 100 people died in 99 fatal traffic accidents.
