Why does a worker do something unsafe when he thinks or knows that no one is looking? The worker may call it taking a chance but it could result in a very bad accident or injury.
Safety rules and safety equipment are furnished for your safety and must be used when needed on the job. They do little good if used only when someone is watching.
Our safety program, to be effective, must work all the time and not just because the foreman, safety supervisor or someone from the office is in the area. Safety is for your benefit and your good health from the time you come on the job in the morning until you leave in the evening. You must believe this and do something about it in order to keep from being injured in a needless accident. We know from experience that most of our accidents can be prevented but not without your help.
