Pennsylvania Trucking Company Official Sentenced To Jail in Reincarnated Carrier Case
On January 18, 2017, Volodymyr Kurylo, former owner of VN Trucking, Inc. and AV Trinity, Inc., was sentenced in Federal court, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to 10 months’ imprisonment and 36 months’ supervised release, and ordered to pay a $3,000 fine for his role in a reincarnated carrier scheme. The judge also signed a $34,959 Forfeiture Order.
Kurylo was previously charged with the use of a facility in interstate commerce to promote an unlawful activity. He admitted that he knowingly and intentionally caused the transmission of a registration document to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) in the name of a reincarnated carrier with the intent to distribute the proceeds of an unlawful activity.
In December 2014, FMCSA had issued an unsatisfactory safety rating to VN Trucking and ultimately ordered the company to cease all transportation in interstate and intrastate commerce. Kurylo, with others, reincarnated VN Trucking as AV Trinity, and in March 2015, FMCSA issued an Operations Out-of-Service Order and a Record Consolidation Order to VN Trucking and AV Trinity. FMCSA ultimately ordered VN Trucking and AV Trinity to cease all motor carrier operations.
